I was born and raised in New England, where in school I focused heavily on math, engineering, and business. I never considered that I would one day write a book. And why would I? I didn’t read much growing up. Of course, I loved Harry Potter and the occasional Dan Brown thriller, but that was about it. It wasn’t until later in life, on a family vacation through Seattle, WA and California that I discovered a love for reading. After picking up my first fantasy books as an adult (Prince of Thorns and The Name of the Wind), I’ve been binge-reading ever since. I eventually decided “I’d like to give this a try.”

I still live in New England and I am an unapologetic homer for the local sports teams. That fandom likes to sneak into my writing, probably more than it should. I can’t promise a football move won’t appear in a duel or two.

A Coat of Shadows is my debut novel and the first book in a new epic fantasy series. I live with my fiancée, and by the time you're reading this, we may be married.
